The eBook is dead - a Tale of A.Mazon

It was late in the year 2097 when a dreadful computer virus hit. The virus caused every eBook in existence to dissolve on the owners devices (remember the cloud). Consternation and panic were rife, all knowledge had disappeared. eBook sellers went out of business, the panic was widespread. Since the 2050 Physical Book Destruction Act had been enacted and brutally enforced, all physical books had been burnt as archaic artefacts.

All the great libraries had been digitised and the smelly, old ancient manuscripts had been destroyed to save space. Librarians had been reassigned to other duties.

But a far seeing merchant called Mr A. Mazon had hidden a treasure trove of physical books in a secret location and then got a team of Russian programmers to write an eBook destruction virus that would be deadly to eBooks. He was onto a winner, he sold his p-Books at inflated prices and made a mint.

The moral of the story is that whatever happens A.Mazon will still make a profit.

Amazon Buyers Beware of this Scam

It hurts!! I have been scammed and lost £346 through a scammer operating through the Amazon.co.uk site.

If you see this guy selling anything don't buy it!!

The moment money transer is mentioned, leave well alone.

The email addresses that I have corresponded though are:

Alexander Groom (oscar-dehn@hotmail.com)
orchard.order@googlemail.com

Hopefully other people will google their email addresses and come up with this.

Why would any trustworty retailer have hotmail & gmail addresses? They are coming across as legit UK based companies with corresponding company websites.

Again - leave well well alone - pure scammers.

What really annoys me is that Amazon was warned about this scammer in early December and still he appears. I got scammed but they should have closed this guy out in before now.

So if it can happen to an old hand like me it can happen to anyone.

Too many Books, not enough Time

It's the old lament for the keen reader. There are just to many great books out there. I have several hundred unread books in my library and many hundreds more that I want to reread. And still I buy more... I'm always on Amazon, Fishpond and Munseys hunting for books. I guess it is a glorious obsession. Still I am happy to be in this space and have no worries about what I am going to read next! The dilemma is that just about any book you read opens other reading avenues. A book or author is mentioned, often in passing, or there is a juicy snippet from their works in a book and I'm off on another chase. I guess its a bit like being wealthy and not ever having to worry about money. I am now book rich!! Ciao DK
